Two Harnett County residents were arrested on methamphetamine possession charges at a Johnston County Sheriff’s Office SAFE Team checkpoint.
Officers had set up a checkpoint on Black Creek Road near Four Oaks on Tuesday when a Volkwagen approached. Authorities said the driver of the vehicle, Michael Wade Long, 33, of Fuquay Varina did not have a license. A passenger in the car, Emily Lane Dix, 35, also of Fuquay Varina, was acting very nervous.
During a search of the car a clear bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamines was located.
Long and Dix were charged with possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Long was also charged with maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. Dix was wanted on a failure to appear warrant on a shoplifting charge from 2015. Her bail was set at $12,250. Long’s bail was placed at $35,000.
