The Clayton Planning Board will hear three separate requests when they meet tonight (Monday), including plans for a new subdivision and a new restaurant.
Triangle Real Estate Company will ask permission tonight to build 154 single-family homes on two different parcels of land on either side of Dairy Road just south of the Brittany Woods subdivision. The rezoning request would allow the homes to be built on lots ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 square feet. The developer also wants the property annexed into the Clayton city limits to receive town water and sewer services.
A traffic study shows the subdivision, The Village at Little Creek, would increase traffic by 7 percent during the morning and peak afternoon hours at the intersection of Barber Mill Road and NC 42. The Town Council will have the final vote on the request.
La Cocina Restaurant is seeking permission to building a 6,913 square foot restaurant behind Just Tires on Shotwell Road. La Cocina is a Mexican restaurant that currently operates in the Clayton Corner Shopping Center on US 70. The new stand-alone restaurant would be built on what is now a vacant parcel. The restaurant would also have outdoor seating.
Grifols is seeking a special use permit tonight to allow a building that exceeds Clayton’s 50-foot height maximum. The biopharmaceutical company want to build a 71.6 foot fall plasma fractionation plant at their current site on US70 Business. The 82,000 square foot fractionation plant, would be one of the largest in the world. The Clayton Fire Department, which would provide fire coverage to the new plant, has said they have no issue with the height of the building. The Town Council will vote on the special use permit if the planning board recommends approval tonight.
The Clayton Planning Board meeting begins at 6:00pm and is open to the public.
